Brooke Burke-Charvet Reveals She Has Thyroid Cancer

Have you been noticing that the term "cancer" is becoming more and more common for a wider range of people.  It used to be that you didn't get cancer until you were "old," but now there are people in their 20s, 30s, 40s or even children who are in the news about their unexplained cancers that just "popped up" out of nowhere.  And, it is not just on TV or in the newspaper.  Think about your own life and how many people you have known, or heard about, recently with a new diagnosis.  Many doctors and oncologists are warning that this is just the "tip of the iceberg" as most cancer takes about 10 - 15 years to develop and that is just about how long most people have really been using cell phones.  The most scary part, though, is how frequently we use them today and how we don't have laws against letting children use them.  With cell towers  popping up everywhere, the slight increases in cancer rates we are seeing right now may truly be a beginning of something very tragic.  But, we can break the cycle now by taking precautions in our own lives.  You wouldn't drive a car that had not been tested, or take a drug that didn't get the stamp of approval.  We frequently recall baby high chairs, or toys with little beads just on the off-chance that they could be dangerous, yet we would rather take a "wait and see" approach with our cell phones, even knowing that they do lead to careless driving for starters but likely to much more harm to our cellular DNA and create genetic mutations that will not be realized until several generations from now.  So, before you tune onutthe news, listen closely to stories like this one below and it is becoming the new "norm."

Brooke Burke-Charvet has shared some serious news about her health.
The "Dancing with the Stars" co-host revealed in a video message Thursday that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

In the video, posted on ModernMom.com, Charvet, 41, explained that a nodule discovered on her thyroid during a routine physical had been biopsied.
"I got my results back days later and they were atypical, which means that the doctors couldn't confirm whether the nodule was cancerous or benign," she continued. "So I had to go and do a whole bunch of additional tests and get second opinions. Long story long, I got my results back and they were not good."
"I need to have thyroid surgery and a thyroidectomy, which means I'm going to have a nice big scar right here across my neck," she added. "I don't get to just walk around and pretend like nothing happened or not follow up or not share it, because it's going to be pretty much dead center. I don't want anybody to read about it and get the wrong idea, or think that I'm sick, because I'm not."

Charvet said she has booked her surgery, and assured fans that she's feeling "really good" and is staying positive.
"It's taken me a couple of months to really wrap my head around this. ... Now I'm good. I'm ready to deal with it, and I'm going to be fine. I feel really, really strong," she said. "Doctors say this is a 'good' kind of cancer to have. ... My doctor did tell me this is a happily ever after ending kind of thing."
She also promised to keep fans posted on her progress.
"I'm going to fight through this," she said. "And as crazy as it is, my head is in the right place. It's going to be good."
