Attorneys Seek to Stop Hearing; Walker Steps Down a Notch

Wow, we're really seeing how much lawyer'ing you can get when you have millions of dollars to spend.

These folks probably went to really good schools to think up all these different ways to get the school board out of trouble.  But, we're just curious if any of them thought of this suggestion...

STOP STEALING FROM US!!

Here's the latest news intended to give you confidence in your leaders:

Dr. Eugene Walker stands at the podium to address the state BOE in January in response to the SACS report and
system probation.  Today, he has stepped down as chairman but a replacement has not been announced.  And, it appears the state hearing scheduled to continue this Thursday may be placed on hold.  What will they think of next??

From Get Schooled AJC:
“Maureen just tweeted this:
“Hearing that DeKalb Schools in front of Judge Lee in Fulton seeking injunction to stop Thursday state board meeting. Chasing down”.”
So they are using our tax dollars to keep from going in front of the State Board of Education.
Please write the Governor, your state Senator and House representative, and every State BOE member supporting replacing the DeKalb County BOE.

Earlier today, it was announced:

DeKalb’s Eugene Walker to relinquish school board chairmanship

Dr. Walker addresses the state BOE last month, but
doesn't want to do it again any time soon.  If their lawyers
prevail, he might get his way ... again!

Days before a showdown that could lead to the ouster of the DeKalb County school board, the leader of the embattled group announced he is relinquishing his role as point man.
“I will be stepping down as chair, and we will elect a new chair,” Eugene Walker announced Monday. Also Monday, Walker and four others voted to pay former Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker and his law firm at least $150,000 for “governance training.”
